The Art of Decluttering

Don’t know where to start with your mission to #declutter? Don’t worry, you are not alone.  Everyone feels the same way one way or the other.

To somehow help ease the burden, we have compiled a de-cluttering checklist that can serve as guide to help ease the insurmountable task of tidying up.

Tip no. 1:  Create a #de-cluttering goals list

For visual people, it helps to write down tasks in order to have a sense of ownership and accountability.  Once you have listed out your goal, even taking a picture of the space before #decluttering, you will feel a sense of pride once you have completed the #decluttering process, with an after #decluttering picture to post in your social media account.

Tip no. 2:  Actually start somewhere

So you have created a list already, now identify a spot where you want to start.  Starting somewhere is a good way to conquer de-cluttering, whether it be organizing your desk drawer or shelves, dedicate at least 5 to 10 minutes each day to start sorting out items in one corner of the room before proceeding on to the next space.  Little progress is still progress after all.

Use the Artsy Puzzle Tray in your desk drawer or on top of your desk to sort out supplies and trinkets.

Tip no. 3:  Do the ‘spark joy’ test

As fans of Mari Kondo, do a mental test whether an item or belonging sparks joy to you.  Picture yourself whether you will use that item in the next 60 to 90 days, or if it has sentimental value to you, or if you are okay to toss that item in the donate or throw away pile because you don’t feel any attachment to it.

Tip no. 4:  Every item has its own home

Once you have finally started organizing a corner in your home, you will notice that there are things in that area that may have been out of place, either placed there in a rush because at that point you need to use it but have forgotten to return it to its usual place.

Start sorting out these items and place them in a basket organizer like the Leather Catch-all.  This way, you can toss the items that are out of their usual place, carry it around once you have the time to put them back in their proper place.

Tip no. 5:  Use trays to organize your stuff

Using trays helps you seemingly have a semblance of organization, relieving you of eye sore with scattered items on top of desks, drawers, tables. Plus, trays serve as decorative pieces, too! So its a win-win situation!

Use the U-Tray to store your skincare regimen is a good way to pick them up and go from the bathroom to your bedroom.
